Last week, we held our first Medical Outreach Meeting meeting of 2025! In this meeting, Dr. Stephanie Meredith presented on how to apply for CMEs and CEUs for presentations or webinars.
Dr. Meredith shared a number of helpful tips and tricks for successfully applying for professional education credits, including:
- Find a partner at a university or hospital to work with, for example, by reaching out to genetic counseling program directors, OB/GYN program leaders, national organizations education directors (ACMG, NSGC, ACOG), and regional/state program education directors
- Lived experience as parents, family members, and advocacy leaders is just as valuable as a medical background, particularly in the much-needed movement towards community-based participatory research
- Helpful resources:
- Examples of courses approved for CMEs/CEUs:
- For help covering the cost of CEUs/CMEs, you can ask for support from donors, grant funders, and stakeholders
- To raise awareness of your course, you can advertise on medical organization newsletters (e.g., NSGC Industry Insights), internal newsletters/emails, and social media
